Prairie Pursuer Land Shark

The six-legged prairie pursuers are a menace any place grass grows over a couple of foot in height. They prefer to encircle prey with their swarm but are infamously persistent in the chase; even the swiftest prey is sure to tire before these ravenous land sharks. One to three yards in length, swarms of 4-24 are common. They are well camouflaged with streaks of tawny amber and dull green. Like other sharks, prairie pursuers spend 90% of their time snoozing. Unlike other sharks, they do not do so in their nesting areas. Instead, they form great rings about their territory, each settled down in to a comfortable scrape. When the sent of prey awakens one, it smells and listens to determine whether it is worth perusing. If so, the shark alerts its brethren. They wait to let the prey enter their great circle on its own; if it does not, they move in wide arcs to encircle. Thus, their ring-shaped snoozing dispersal is a trap waiting to be spring. The drumming of their six legs is copied in many a tribal war-beat; SEE Land Sharks for more information on polypsuedopoidal land sharks.
