Striding Tiger Land Shark

Striding Tigers are the largest of striding-class Land Sharks, which see; they may reach over 60' in length. Their stripes provide very effective camouflage when they lie in the tall grass of tropical savannas or temperate prairie; even the largest can compress to under 10' in height, short enough to hide in tall grasslands. If the grasses are not tall enough, the tigers' territory will be scarred here and there with scrapes, ditches dug for them to set down in. Settled, the striding tigers let their prey come quite close before suddenly rearing up, enhancing the surprise of their attack with a foghorn-like whistling bellow.

Great size and long muscular legs gives striding tigers a pace faster than a horse. A pack of 2-8 striding tigers is more than a match for a similar number of equally large tyrannosaurs.

Bull tigers spend most of their time chasing off rivals. The females of a herd are a set of sisters and half sisters. They build their nests quite close together. During the day, the eggs are covered with sand that insulates them from excessive heat or cold. The females take turns nursing the eggs, covering and uncovering them as the temperature fluctuates - and keeping an eye out for poachers. Should the nurse call an alarm, her sisters come quickly.

Striding tigers are highly territorial. If they take down a kill near the boarders of their home range, they will drag it quite a distance towards the heart of their territory before stopping to gore. If they are not quick enough, a neighboring rival pack may invade to steal the feast. Tales are told of Adventurers escaping while rival packs fought over the right to kill them.
